Hi, I was wondering if I could get some help... I'm trying to valuate my '67 SG special, but as it's a player and not a mint collectible I'm finding it difficult. also there aren't many for sale it seems...
It's a bit hard to see the last digit of the serial number in the picture, but it's 098041 which dates it to 1967 as far as I can find out. also the pots are original CLR pots from '67 and original P90's
It's an amazing sounding guitar which plays fantastically. has a nice wide neck, and is light as a feather with eons of sustain. a real rocknroll axe.
Now for the "problems"... apart from the visible wear, dings etc. it has a nicely repaired headstock crack, barely visible that runs along the tuners, see pic. it also has a chunk taken out of it and glued back in where the jack input is, see pic.
apart from that it has a replaced bridge of some kind (which I'm considering changing to a replacement vibrola and bridge... any suggestions or advice out there?) and replaced tuners ... I think.
I think frets are original.
Anyway, there it is folks. I'm new to the forum, happy to have found you, and I look forward to hearing from y'all.
best, H.
