Hi
I'm new to forums, so please take my attempt at this with a grain of salt

Here's my problem.
I'm doing a wire mod on a 1976 Gibson S1. The customer want a special setup. Here's what he wants.
I would like a 3 way LP switch to replace the 2 way switch that's there now. I want the three way switch to work just like a standard Les Paul. Down position is the lead pickup. Middle position is lead/rhythm pickups together. Up position is the rhythm pickup. These two pickups are controlled with the new volume pot that's installed in place of the Chicken Head switch, and original tone pot. The middle pickup on the S1 will be wired directly to the original volume control. This allows it to be blended with any of the other combinations. The one tone pot will control all three pickups. I'm not into wire mods, just standard stuff. Tele's, Strats, Gibson's ( LP's ) and 2X1 circuits. I was hoping I could get some help on the forum with this mess. I'm not even certain this can be done ? But, a little late now, I have the S1 ripped-n-stripped. I did photo it in case I needed to put it back together like original. One problem is. There are 3 additional Orange wires from the pups. One from each ? There's a Hot lead, a Ground lead, and one of these Orange wires ? I have no idea what the heck those odd Orange wires are for? I thought at first they may be an additional ground, now I believe them to be a secondary hot lead for a coil tapping system that would turn them from a single coil to a dual coil humbucker. My problem is, what do I do to make this work ? Two days ago, I had the neck and bridge pups working, but when I put the 3 way in the middle position, nothing happened. So I rewired the whole thing as per an old diagram I had of something similar to an LP, but with only one volume and one tone control for both pickups. Now nothing works ? Bottom line, can someone on the forum please help me with this nightmare of a mess

?
Best regards:
