Hello Jules,
I have a Gibson ES-125T, serial #: 357614 (1965). All other ES-125Ts I've seen online & elsewhere have the sunburst finish which begins with the golden center and darkens to a very dark brown at the edges.
Mine is different. It, too, has the golden center in the body, but only gradates from there to orange and then to a darker, burnt orange at the edge. My question to you is, is this an oddity, and thus a rarity?
I'm interested to know what you think the value might be.
It is missing its pick guard and the truss rod cover on the head. It has its share of wear scratches on the back, and on the back of the neck. The original compensated rosewood bridge was replaced, though I still have it (somewhere!-need to dig it out of storage).
I bought the guitar back in 1980 for $180.00 (!), but at the time, it had a very bad hack job fix at the neck-to-body point. In 2000, I brought it to Bill Asher of Asher Guitars-a renowned luthier and restorer here in California. He restored the neck beautifully.
Please see the pictures attached. I have more as well.
Thank you for your time, -eva
