1972 Gibson showcase brochures
|
In 1972 Gibson produced a series of 'Guitar of the Month' brochures, each dedicated to one of their high end models, the Les Paul Recording guitar, L5-CES, ES-175D, Super 400-CES, ES-355TD-SV and
Byrdland. Each brochure was a single sheet folded into four panels, with details of the instruments themselves, their features, musical purpose, and a little history behind the development of each guitar. Only the Les Paul Recording was a new model; the others were all well established in the Gibson line. Follow the link to see scans and further information on these leaflets and other Gibson guitar catalogues from the CMI and Norlin periods.

1961 Vox Stroller
|
The earliest versions of the Vox Stroller were actually copies of an early Japanese electricguitar, the Guyatone (also sold under the brand Antoria) LG50. These Strollers, although short-lived did undergo a few changes before taking on the more familiar Strat influenced style of many mid-sixties UK-built Vox guitars. The biggest difference between early and late LG50-style Strollers (and the two pickup version, the Shadow) was the larger pickup, a shade longer, but noticeably wider used in the very first Vox guitars. Compare this early Vox to a 1963 Stroller with the later V1 pickup. For more information about Vox guitar pickups in general, see the Vox guitar pickups page.

Toilet World by JOSEPH FERRANTE
We first came to you talking about the ¨Hey Jude¨ masterpiece recomposition of Joseph Ferrante, as well as talking about another two songs of him, namely, ¨Here comes a brand new day¨ and ¨Alone again¨.
This time we want to talk about another song of Joseph Ferrante, titled ¨Toilet World¨. ¨Toilet World¨ describes the world we live in, a world that will never change because it was made to be like that. No matter how many revolutions come and go, the ¨Toilet World¨ will always be the ¨Toilet World¨, because the nature of the human animal will always be the same.
The ¨Toilet World¨, a world where the best pop musician of all time was blocked during nearly 20 long years by a heartless mafia, simply because he was a threat to many music myths.
This horrible mafia did everything they could to hide the musician from the public. A dreamy musician had to go through all this. This is the ¨Toilet World¨.
Why the ¨Toilet World?: selfishness, egoism, greed, envy, jealousy, abuse, racism, hatred, tyranny of the powerful, useless presidents, money as only value, divorces, betrayals, outlaws, non spirituality, evil, wars, disasters, unhappiness, unemployment, merciless competition, corruption, sicknesses, inhuman trends, enemies, you name it, the ¨Toilet World¨ has done it.
Joseph Ferrante gives you his description of the ¨Toilet World¨ in his song. Maybe his views are not as drastic as mine, but just the same describe this ¨Toilet World.
¨Everybody´s running fast, trying to reach the moon and stars,
there´s no need of doing that if we can share each other´s heart¨...
(Poet musicians always soften the harsh reality to make it musical. Things are quite different in a newspaper than they are in a song)
To listen to ¨Toilet World¨ even with the possibility of downloading it go to:

(You can also download the other tracks we talked about before, should you want to have them. It is a free download for some time, especially for you. Every song we talk about becomes a free download on the website of Joseph Ferrante at the same time).
R. Davis.
