1972 Gibson showcase brochures
1972 Gibson showcase brochuresIn 1972 Gibson produced a series of 'Guitar of the Month' brochures, each dedicated to one of their high end models, the Les Paul Recording guitar, L5-CES, ES-175D, Super 400-CES, ES-355TD-SV and Byrdland. Each brochure was a single sheet folded into four panels, with details of the instruments themselves, their features, musical purpose, and a little history behind the development of each guitar. Only the Les Paul Recording was a new model; the others were all well established in the Gibson line. 1961 Vox Stroller
1961 Vox Stroller electric guitar The earliest versions of the Vox Stroller were actually copies of an early Japanese electricguitar, the Guyatone (also sold under the brand Antoria) LG50. These Strollers, although short-lived did undergo a few changes before taking on the more familiar Strat influenced style of many mid-sixties UK-built Vox guitars. The biggest difference between early and late LG50-style Strollers (and the two pickup version, the Shadow) was the larger pickup, a shade longer, but noticeably wider used in the very first Vox guitars. Compare this early Vox to a 1963 Stroller with the later V1 pickup. For more information about Vox guitar pickups in general, see the Vox guitar pickups page.

    Default Gibson US-1 Superstrat

Hi out there, I have a rescued 1987 Gibson US-1 that I rescued from a boot fair in Spain. I had never seen one before and I understand they were made for a few years only. From the serial number it was built in Kalamazoo in October 1987. It is fitted with EMG's SSH format with 3 micro switches and a Gibson licensed Kahler locking trem system. All hardware is gold and it has a maple top and mahogany back on a Chromite body. What info does anybody have. I attach some PIX. Cheers

Are you sure about that serial number? Gibson had closed the Kalamazoo plant by this time.. (now the base of Heritage guitars)

    Default Gibson US-1

Hi there, my fault - made in Nashville on 9 August 1987.

Any info would be appreciated, like were the EMG's and Kahler trem factory options as the only other I have seen on the net had normal single coils and a humbucker with a normal Les Paul type stop bar and bridge?

The logo is an aftermarket replacement as the original logo was surface mounted on 3 small pins and that had long gone and unfortunately Gibson would not provide a replacement - only if I took it to the factory in Nashville.

Look forward to any more info.
