View Full Version : white nylon saddles replacement

I'm new to this forum and I'm and owner of triumph bass from early seventies with a 2 point bridge that uses wite plastic saddles. I need to find a replacement for them, together with their screws that makes them slide orizontally.
I've searched around for replacements but no way. Is there anyone that knows where I can find them? They seems to be used on several other gibson bass models from the end of 60' on.

In case they are not available, is there anyone that knows it the 3-poin bridge metal saddles (that are in use still now) are an acceptable substitute for them?

thank you

The 3 point saddles will, unfortuately ,not work. Not even close.

I have seen the 2 point saddles on ebay before, entire 2 points come up fairly often.

There is a bridge on ebay right now with the nylon saddles already replaced with brass saddles. http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-GIBSON-EBO-BASS-BRIDGE-SADDLES-COMPLETE_W0QQitemZ7382910163QQcategoryZ64402QQssPa geNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The three point saddles almost fit but they may buzz so you may have to put something under the saddles. The threaded rod on the three point bridge are too short but the saddles will fit on the orginal rods (may be a little loose).
I changed the saddles on my '67 eb-3 and wow what a change! what were Gibson thinking when they put the plastic saddles on.

I got the following done by my friend and luthier Andy Viccars http://www.andyviccarscustom.co.uk

He put springs over the screws which just hold the saddles still - and easy repair as long as you've got the springs. As I recall they were just standard guitar humbucker mounting springs...
